While I utilize various forms of treatment based on the needs of the client, my hope is for people to live full lives with a range of emotions, strong connections with others and peace within themselves. Each type of therapy is used purposefully and with intention for each client and my rationale is readily available for explanation at any time!
Therapy that is strongly grounded in the therapeutic relationship
“Evidence Based Treatment” is only as good as the relationship the therapist has built the the client. Trust, mutual respect, honesty, and healthy communication are cornerstones of a successful therapeutic relationship. Only with these facets is a truly successful outcome achieved. Luckily, I like most people! That doesn’t mean everyone will like me, but it’s not really about me, is it? My job is provide a safe, honest space, that is respectful of your experience, your needs, and the best practice for you. From there, the following treatment modalities can really do wonders!
Here are my most frequently used therapies, theories and techniques in no particular order: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), CBT with ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention), Mindfulness, Self-Compassion, “Parts Work” (mostly using Structural Dissociation Theory), Motivational Interviewing, Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and EMDR, Neurodivergent Friendly Practice.
I would like to take a moment to honor the centuries of wisdom we have received from Eastern practices, many of which can be seen woven into the evidence based therapies we know here in the West. With that said, I believe there are ways we have of “knowing” and understanding and helping that surpass what has been studied in research, what can be read in a textbook or learned from a training and that these ways of knowing or being have immense value in the lives of the people I work with.
I look forward to getting to know, understand and help each client utilizing best practices, but also intuition and inherent wisdom.
